Liberty County Sheriff's Office asks for public's help finding missing Dayton man

John “Jug” Burch Jr.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office is urgently asking for the public's help in locating John “Jug” Burch Jr., a 48-year-old white man from Dayton, Texas. Burch was last seen on June 13, 2024, at the Kwik Mart located at FM 1409 and CR 402. Since that date, Burch's family reportedly had no contact with him, an occurrence they described as unusual.

According to LCSO, Burch is known for riding a distinctive blue chopper-style bike with an attached motor kit. He is often seen riding the bike daily throughout South Liberty County. His sudden disappearance has sparked concern among his family and the local community.

Burch is 5'11″, 170 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos on both arms and a small tattoo on his neck.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division is actively searching for Burch. They have conducted several interviews over the past week to try to discover his whereabouts.

“The outcome of the investigation at this point has not revealed Burch’s location, but has raised questions about possible foul play,” said Capt. David Meyers, a sheriff’s office spokesman. “The LCSO Criminal Investigation Division will continue to monitor this investigation in hopes of locating Burch.”

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office is appealing to anyone who may have information about Burch's disappearance. If you have any information that could help you locate Burch, please contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 936-336-4500. Additionally, you can provide information anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867 (STOP).
