Lexington teen charged with shooting at another car

Beer bottles and cans were thrown from Cason's car toward the other car before the shots were fired, police said.

LEXINGTON, SC — An 18-year-old from Lexington is accused of shooting at a vehicle Tuesday evening while driving his SUV on Highway 378 near Lake Murray, according to Lexington County deputies.

Logan Nathanial Cason is charged with three counts of first-degree battery and one count of pointing a firearm at a person, according to arrest warrants.

“Officers interviewed a group of witnesses right after this happened, which we believe started as a road rage incident,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The witnesses all told deputies that Cason fired a handgun into the air while he was driving, then pointed it at the car next to him and fired more shots.”

Bottles and cans of beer were thrown from Cason's car toward the other car before the shots were fired, according to Koon.

“Officers collected evidence, including several shell casings, from the road,” Koon said. “The location of these items matched information witnesses shared with deputies.”

Koon said deputies identified Cason as the suspected shooter during their interviews with witnesses. Deputies eventually located him at a home near Lake Murray.
