Level 3 Evacuations (Go Now!) in Place for 85-Acre Grove Fire, Fire 100% Covered | Spokane News

SPOKANE, Wash. — An 85-acre fire has triggered Level 3 (go there now!) for many people living near Geiger Heights and is now 100% covered.

The Grove Fire remains at 85 acres and 100 structures are threatened. Anyone in the following areas is in immediate danger and must leave now!

  • Drosett Road to the east.
  • Abbott Lane to the west.
  • Morning Lane to the south.
  • North 57th Avenue to the north.





If you are unsure whether you are subject to an evacuation notice, visit Spokane County Evacuation Zone Finder and search for your address.

The Red Cross will open an evacuation meeting point at the Shriners Event Center at 6 p.m. and can help with small animals. If you have large animals, there is no fixed shelter at the moment.

Westwood Middle School is outside the evacuation zone, but to access the main parking lot you must pass through Abbot Road, which is in the evacuation zone. NonStop Local has contacted the school for more information. Windsor Elementary School is entirely outside the evacuation zone.

According to the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, the fire is 100% double. For the moment, there is no update on confinement.

The Grove Fire, which started on a half-acre near 7800 South Grove Road, continues to spread. It is currently estimated at 85 acres.

The northbound lanes of Cheney-Spokane Highway will be reopened for evacuation traffic.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department was called to help fight this fire.

The cause of this fire is unknown and no injuries have been reported at this time.
