Leicester City identify Championship manager to replace Enzo Maresca?

Leicester City are reportedly already taking steps to find a successor to Enzo Maresca, who looks set to become Chelsea head coach.

The city of Leicester have identified a potential successor for Chelsea-related Enzo Maresca.

After winning the league title, the Foxes hoped to focus on a return to the Premier League with the Italian still in the dugout.

However, over the past 24 hours it has become increasingly likely that the 44-year-old will move to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea having reportedly made an official approach.

Although it may take several days to finalize a deal with Maresca currently on holiday in Marbella, the general consensus is that Leicester will soon need another head coach.

If Maresca agrees terms with Chelsea, Leicester will have at least £8 million to use to find an alternative thanks to a release clause in their current head coach's contract.

Despite their well-documented financial problems, this will give them more leeway to approach a currently active manager if they wish.

Leicester interested in Corberan

According to talkSPORT football editor Jason Bournewho commented X, West Bromwich-Albion the head coach Carlos Corberan is on their shortlist.

The Spaniard has been a major success at the Hawthorns since arriving in October 2022, guiding the Baggies to the Championship playoffs in 2023-24 before losing to eventual winners Southampton in the semi-final.

Corberan is tied to a contract until 2027, while he is currently expected to be backed by the club's new owners in the transfer market, having previously had to negotiate due to their financial problems under previous owners.

Nonetheless, it appears the 41-year-old could be given the chance to decide whether he wants to consider a move to the East Midlands.

Why could Corberan be targeted?

In the showdown, West Brom produced an impressive performance against Leicester at the King Power Stadium, the visitors by far the better team, but ultimately paid for wasting numerous chances in a 2-1 defeat.

Generally speaking, though, Corberan has now enjoyed good times at both Huddersfield Town – who he guided to the Championship playoff final in 2022 – and the West Midlands outfit.

While he has yet to manage a Premier League match, Marcelo BielsaThe former Leeds United first-team manager has built such a reputation that a potential move to a club in this division seems inevitable, unless he takes West Brom to the top flight next season .

As it stands, Corberan owns a record of 39 wins, 18 draws and 27 defeats during his time at West Brom.
