Legal organization sues Northwestern University for alleged anti-white discrimination

(Daily Caller News Foundation) – America First Legal (AFL) is suing Northwestern University and the Northwestern University Law Review for alleged discrimination against white men.

Northwestern University “discriminated against white males in its faculty recruitment” and its law school discriminated against white faculty applicants, according to an AFL press release. The AFL, co-counsel Jonathan F. Mitchell and Stone Hilton PLLC announced the filing of the lawsuit today.

“Applicants with preferred identities are given substantial advantages and are selected over white men who have vastly superior publication records and far more impressive educational and professional credentials,” the lawsuit alleges.

The document goes on to claim that for “at least twelve years” under then-Dean Daniel Rodriguez, Northwestern Law School “propagated and enforced a mandate” to hire faculty candidates with “preferred identities.” It further claims that “Rodriguez knew that this discriminatory hiring ordinance was unlawful and would subject the university to legal liability.”

The complaint also alleges that the editors of the Northwestern University Law Review discriminated on the basis of gender and race, in violation of U.S. law, giving preference to racial and sexual minorities and “rejecting much better articles” submitted by white men.

The AFL cited the Law Review's “Diversity and Inclusion” statement in the complaint. The publication says it “does not discriminate on the basis of race” or “sexual orientation, gender identity, and sexual orientation,” among other characteristics.

The AFL alleges in the complaint that this statement is “false” because the Law Review uses “affirmative action to select its members, editors and articles.”

AFL executive director Gene Hamilton stressed that discrimination based on race or sex is prohibited under federal law.

“No one should be given an advantage because of their immutable characteristics, and no one should be disadvantaged,” Hamilton said, emphasizing the need to make decisions based on merit.

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against race-based admissions in two lawsuits filed against the University of North Carolina and Harvard. Since that decision, the Biden administration has continued to advocate for diversity in higher education. The Department of Education released a report advising colleges on how to increase “diversity” in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision.

The AFL also announced it was suing CBS for allegedly firing a news anchor because he was a “white, heterosexual, older” man. The suit alleges that discrimination against men and whites violates the Civil Rights Act.
