Lawrence teenager dead after early morning shooting; police seeking leads from public | News, Sports, Jobs

A 17-year-old Lawrence resident is dead after an overnight shooting, and police are asking for the public's help in their investigation.

Isaiah Neal, a Lawrence resident, died this morning at an area hospital after officers responded to reports of shots fired at 2406 Alabama Street around 1:15 a.m. Thursday morning. Lawrence Police Department officers found Neal with multiple gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures until Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical paramedics arrived on scene.

LPD investigators worked through the night and continue to follow leads today, but no arrests have been made, according to a police news release. This apparent homicide is the second in the last three days in Lawrence. As reported, the police department is also investigating the death of Christopher Allen Lickteig, 43, following a roadside fight at an intersection east of Lawrence, near the Lawrence Community Shelter, where Lawrence lived Lickteig. Police arrested a suspect, George Luke Miller, 34, who also resided at the shelter.
