Lawrence Police Department investigating fatal stabbing

LAWRENCE, Ind. — The Lawrence Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing.

According to public police reporting systems, LPD officers were first dispatched to the 4600 block of North Shadeland Avenue around 3:15 pm Saturday. An LPD spokesperson confirmed that law enforcement eventually located a 51-year-old male who had sustained an apparent stab wound near the intersection of 46th Street and Shadeland Avenue.

The man was in critical condition when police found him. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to IU Methodist Hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead
