Lawmakers weigh in on saga of Hayden Hill, Alabama teen injured in Italy

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Local lawmakers are getting involved in the effort to bring Hayden Hill home.

Hill was in Italy on a senior trip when he fell off a 60-foot cliff while walking to the beach.

He underwent several surgeries, but bringing him home wasn't easy.

Hayden's sister said she reached out to several state leaders for help.

Rep. Dale Strong's office said, “We hope Hayden returns home soon and receives the best care possible.” We remain in prayer for his speedy recovery and are doing everything we can to get him back quickly.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville also weighed in on the Hill saga.

“Accidents happen. You have to be very careful when you go outside the borders of our country, because other countries are a little bit different in terms of the rules, the regulations, all the red tape that you have to follow,” he said. “The people we have in Huntsville and even in Birmingham in our offices are working, trying to cut through that paperwork enough to make sure we can get them home.”
