Las Vegas teen accused of stabbing girl with knife her mother gave him during fight

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A teenage girl is accused of stabbing another teenage girl with a knife her mother allegedly gave her during a fight involving nearly two dozen youths, according to documents obtained by 8 News Now investigators.

The teenager is charged with attempted murder and assault causing serious bodily harm. 8 News Now is not naming the teenager because it was not immediately clear if she was certified as an adult.


On June 23, around 10 p.m., Clark County Park Police officers responded to the large fight at Silver Bowl Park on Russell Road near Boulder Highway, documents state.

The teen allegedly planned to meet the stabbing victim during the fight with 20 friends, the documents say. Police say the teen's mother handed her a steak knife, which the teen then used to stab the other teen, the documents say.

The victim was stabbed in the shoulder and head, documents show.

During the fight, one man threw hot water at another person and several others were sprayed with tear gas, the documents said. The report did not specify whether the stabbing victim was the same target.

In an interview with officers, the teen said she was fighting back after a group of youths “attacked her sister earlier in the week,” the documents say.[The teenager] She also told me that because there were so many children there, her mother gave her the knife.

The teen appeared in Las Vegas court Tuesday, where Judge Rebecca Saxe set bail at $25,000. The teen posted bail and was scheduled to return to court on July 8. The mother's name was not included in court documents received by 8 News Now investigators.
