LANCASTER — Los Angeles County firefighters appear to have the Max Fire under control, but not before the fire burned about 500 acres of brush and burned some structures and cars in Lancaster on Sunday.

The fire extended to the edge of Lancaster's residential area and burned some buildings, including a barn near the area between West 80th Street and Avenue K, ABC7 reported.

A videographer at the scene reported that sheriffs were issuing evacuation orders from patrol vehicles, warning residents in English and Spanish to leave the area. He also reported that helicopters were carrying out water drops.

So far, no homes have been lost and no casualties have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
