A local woman is in the Taney County Jail after an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies and two drug task forces.

Rhonda Johnson, 56, of Rockaway Beach, faces second-degree drug trafficking charges, according to information released by the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

On June 7, the Benton County Sheriff's Department and the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force received information regarding an individual who was trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine from south to central Missouri. Follow-up by the Southern Missouri COMET Drug Task Force revealed that the individual, later revealed to be Johnson, had been under investigation for two years.

The post states that with the cooperation of these agencies as well as the Christian and Taney County Sheriff's Departments, it ultimately resulted in Johnson being located and arrested as she attempted to ship methamphetamine into the county of Benton. A search of his residence later revealed approximately three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine.

Johnson is being held without bail in the Taney County Jail and faces trafficking charges, with charges also pending in Christian County.
