Lafayette PD: Man arrested after shooting leaves woman critical

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Lafayette police arrested a man after a shooting early Friday morning in the area of ​​Emerald Pines Court and McCarty Lane.

Police were called to the scene around 3:15 a.m. following reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a woman unconscious with a gunshot wound, according to the report. The victim was transferred to an area hospital and was last reported in critical condition.

Lafayette Police then noticed a vehicle traveling toward McCarty Ln., which documents say meant the driver was attempting to flee the scene toward McCarty Ln. Officers conducted a traffic stop on this vehicle, and the vehicle fled the scene, resulting in a brief pursuit.

The police report then states that Lafayette police identified and arrested 26-year-old Anthony Reed Jr. He says he and the victim are likely acquaintances, although their relationship and the cause of the shooting currently remain unclear.
