Kuwait fire: 12 people from Kerala identified among Indians killed, state health minister Veena George rushes to Gulf country

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), June 13: The Kerala government on Thursday said 12 people from the state have so far been identified among those who lost their lives in the major fire that broke out in Kuwait's Mangaf region.

The Cabinet decided that Health Minister Veena George and an IAS official would visit Kuwait immediately.

The decision was taken during an emergency council of ministers this morning. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The state government also announced Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased and one lakh rupees for the injured.

Notably, the Kerala government canceled the inaugural ceremony of the Loka Kerala Sabha following this tragic accident.

“The Lok Kerala Sabha meeting will be held on June 14 and 15 as scheduled. However, there will be no celebrations,” the CMO said.
