KSP: Body of infant found in family home could be missing, aged eight months

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Henderson Post reported Friday afternoon that detectives had located the decomposing body of an infant, matching that of eight-month-old Miya Rudd, who they said them, had been discovered hiding in his family's house.

The remains are to be transported to the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville to determine the cause of death and confirm the baby's identity.

Although no charges have yet been filed in connection with the discovery, several family members, including the baby's parents and grandparents, have been arrested on other charges.

On Wednesday, officers executed a search warrant at the residence of Miya Rudd's grandparents (the parents of Miya's mother, Tesla Tucker) on Leitchfield Road in Owensboro.

They seized electronic devices and arrested both grandparents. Taletha D. Tucker, 50, was charged as a fugitive on another state warrant for Indiana, while David Tucker, 53, was taken into custody on a no-murder warrant. -payment issued in Daviess County, KY.

Tesla Tucker's three children, who were staying with the Tuckers, were transferred by the Community Services Cabinet to another location.

KSP began investigating a missing child in Ohio County after a search warrant and welfare check on Miya Tucker was conducted on June 6. Officers arrested and initially charged the mother of the missing child, Tesla Tucker, 29, with possession of a controlled substance in the 1st degree. (Fentanyl); Possession of drug paraphernalia and abandonment of a minor, but later, trafficking in controlled substances, 1st degree (more than 2 grams – methamphetamine); Trafficking in legendary drugs; Marijuana trafficking; Child abuse first; Participating in organized crime and possessing paraphernalia.

The same day, Cage C. Rudd, 30, the baby's father, was initially charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Fentanyl); Possession of controlled substance 1st degree (methamphetamine); Possession of drug paraphernalia and abandonment of a minor. He also faces additional charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (more than 2 grams – methamphetamine); Trafficking in legendary drugs; Marijuana trafficking; Child abuse first; Participating in organized crime and possessing paraphernalia.

On June 9, officers arrested Miya Rudd's other grandmother, Billie J. (Rudd) Smith, 49 of Reynolds Station on a warrant for 2nd Degree Assault – Domestic Violence, stemming from a incident that occurred in Daviess County in October 2023. Police were investigating. search/welfare check for the missing eight-month-old child when they discovered Ms. Smith had an active arrest warrant.
