A knife-wielding man wearing a blonde wig stabbed four girls at an AMC movie theater before attacking a couple at a McDonald's near Boston, Massachusetts.

The suspect stabbed four girls aged 9 to 17 at an AMC multiplex in Braintree around 6 p.m., before stabbing a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man at a McDonalds 30 miles away about an hour later .

The man, who has not yet been named, allegedly entered the theater without a movie ticket and attacked the girls without provocation, without saying a word.

A suspect, who police described as “armed and dangerous with a 10-inch knife,” has been arrested in connection with the brutal attack. Police say he is also linked to a murder investigation.

He was described by a snack bar employee as a man wearing “an oversized trench coat, sunglasses and a long blonde wig,” CBS News reported.

The man stabbed four girls aged 9 to 17 at an AMC multiplex in Braintree around 6 p.m., before stabbing a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man at a McDonald's 30 miles away about an hour later.

The man, who has not yet been named, allegedly entered the cinema without a movie ticket and attacked the girls without provocation, without saying a word.

A witness at the scene, Matteo Rojas, told CBS: “It's so heartbreaking, that's what I'll think about the rest of the night, is seeing those kids coming down the steps and crying.” They looked really stunned, like they had just seen a horror movie, not a children's movie.

The girls were transported to a Boston hospital and treated for non-critical injuries, according to Braintree police.

Shortly after the attack, the suspect fled the scene in a black SUV, driving 30 miles to Plymouth, Massachusetts, where he was allegedly involved in another assault at a McDonald's.

The man allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man around 7:09 p.m. They were also treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

“Preliminary investigation suggests a likely connection to an earlier incident at a movie theater in Braintree resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to four juveniles,” Massachusetts State Police said.

Using surveillance footage, police were able to obtain his license plate number.

Police attempted to arrest the suspect before being led into a wild car chase by the gunman that ultimately crashed in Sandwich, Massachusetts.

The suspect is believed to be linked to a murder investigation in Deep River, Connecticut, police said.

He was taken into custody and treated for minor injuries.
