Knife attack on TTC bus: two 15-year-old boys charged

A 15-year-old boy involved in a stabbing on a TTC bus in Etobicoke Wednesday was believed to be carrying a knife, Toronto police said.

Shortly before 6 p.m., officers responded to a call about a person with a knife on a bus near Berry Road and Park Lawn Road, north of the Queensway.

Police said a teenager boarded a bus and walked to the back, where another teenager was sitting.

At one point, the two men got into a verbal and physical confrontation, police said.

One of the teens allegedly pulled out a hidden knife during the fight and they were both stabbed.

Officers arrived to locate one of the teens with a stab wound while the other attempted to flee the scene, but was quickly found.

Police said both boys were arrested and then taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the bus driver sustained minor injuries in the incident.

On Thursday, police announced that the two 15-year-olds had been charged with assault with a weapon.

One of them faces additional charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon in violation and failure to comply with a release order.

The accused cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
