Klamath National Forest battles sulfur fire south of Happy Camp | Fire watch

HAPPY CAMP, Cal. – Updated at 1:30 p.m.: Ground resources gained access to the Sulfur Fire Friday morning. The fire remains within yesterday's fire lines and was mapped at 3/4 of an acre. Crews, equipment and a helicopter are working today to contain the sulfur fire. The investigation is looking into the causes of the fire.

The Sulfur Fire is burning in the Sulfur Springs Campground area in Siskiyou County, south of Happy Camp on the east side of Elk Creek between Cougar and Copper Creeks. Below is a complete list of respective evacuations, areas and containments.

Firefighting Efforts: Ground resources accessed the sulfur fire Friday morning. The fire remains within yesterday's fire lines and was mapped at 3/4 of an acre. Crews, equipment and a helicopter are working today to contain the sulfur fire.

The Sulfur Fire was reported early Thursday evening, south of Happy Camp on the east side of Elk Creek in a rough area near Cougar Creek. An air attack, air tankers and a helicopter were on scene last night dropping retardant and water on the fire while crews and equipment worked to open roads for access to the fire.

The investigation is looking into the causes of the fire.
