Kilgore man sentenced to more than 15 years in prison for drug trafficking | Police, fires and arrests

A Kilgore man has been sentenced to federal prison on drug charges in the Eastern District of Texas, U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs announced this week.

Rodney Dewayne Fagans, 39, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle on May 22.

According to information presented in court, Fagans and his co-conspirators admitted to selling large quantities of methamphetamine on numerous occasions in Gregg County. Fagans was identified as the supplier of three separate illegal drug transactions totaling 598.72 grams of methamphetamine.

Fifteen others involved in the drug distribution system pleaded guilty and were sentenced to federal prison.

This effort is part of an operation by the Drugs and Organized Crime Task Forces (OCDETF). The OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach. This case was investigated by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, and the Longview Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lucas Machicek.
