Kerala police launch probe into alleged leak of FMGE questionnaire

The Cybercrime Unit of the Kerala Police filed a complaint following announcements on social media claiming that the questionnaires and responses for the Examination for foreign medical graduates (FMGE) were available for sale. However, police said there was currently no evidence that anyone had received the alleged questionnaires and answer keys that have been circulating on social media.

The FMGE, scheduled for July 6, is a mandatory examination for foreign medical graduates wishing to practice in India, ensuring their eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of India.

The Thiruvananthapuram Cybercrime Police have filed a case under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, targeting those who advertised the sale of FMGE question papers and answer sheet on Telegram. This is the first case under the new law, which aims to prevent unfair practices in public examinations amid recent controversies like the NEET UG question paper leak.

To prevent further scams, the cyber wing of the police has started 24/7 monitoring of social media platforms including various Telegram channels. Despite the ongoing investigation, no evidence has been found indicating the distribution of FMGE question papers and answer keys to candidates.

The police have advised candidates to avoid falling for such scams and not to transfer money in exchange for exam papers.
