Kendrick Lamar

Strengthens security for filming music videos

…hiring sheriff's deputies

Kendrick Lamar is set to shoot a new music video this weekend…and we're told the rapper is beefing up security to keep himself, his crew, and the community safe.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ…the Grammy winner will shoot his new music video in Compton – a perfect return for K. Dot on the heels of his triumphant Juneteenth show Wednesday evening at the KIA Forum in nearby Inglewood.

We're told Kendrick's team has obtained all the necessary permits to complete the project…and that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will be sending deputies for added security while the music video is filmed.

For security reasons, our sources will not say how many deputies have been hired for this concert, which is expected to take place throughout Compton. However, we're told Kendrick's production company pays around $120 an hour to have them on hand.

Even though police sources tell us that the police are aware of the Kendrick affair recent beef with sworn enemy DuckWe're told no known threats have surfaced at this time.

Although the feud, at least publicly, ended in early May – when Kendrick dropped out “Not like us” — we're told authorities are still taking this seriously and monitoring social media for any drama.

Remember, Kendrick and Drake started a series of disses on each other, until Kendrick was declared the clear winner with “Not Like Us”, not only verbally eliminating Drake… but also topped the Billboard charts.

Subsequently, the “Degrassi” alum's Toronto home was plagued by three incidents involving police: including filming of one of his security agents. Kendrick was not connected to the shooting and no suspects have been arrested.

Sources tell us that the LASD and others involved are hoping for a peaceful production that would highlight the beauty of Compton, instead of the negative image of gangs and crime that it became famous for decades ago .

If anyone can turn this around, it would be Kendrick having a moment…having already brought several Los Angeles gangs together during his concert.
