Kendall County Sheriff's Office to crack down on speeding – Shaw Local

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office has launched a new crackdown on speeding.

The Sheriff's Office is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies to step up enforcement efforts across the state to reduce speeding.

Throughout the month of July, motorists can expect increased patrols looking for speeding and other traffic violations.

“Speeding creates unnecessary hazards on our roadways,” Kendall County Deputy Sheriff Bobby Richardson said in a Kendall County Sheriff’s Office news release. “Speeding significantly reduces a driver’s ability to safely navigate around another vehicle, a dangerous object or an unexpected turn. Drivers who speed put themselves, their passengers and other motorists at risk.”

During the speeding control campaign, officers will intensify enforcement of posted speed limits.

“Violators will be arrested and ticketed, as speeding is one of the most common concerns of our residents and contributes to a significant number of traffic accidents across the country,” Richardson said. “Our goal is to save lives.”

The speed enforcement effort is made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by IDOT.
