KC Pet Project finds missing alligator at college

A small alligator was found alive more than a week after going missing at a middle school in Kansas City's Northland. The KC Pet Project confirmed the animal is now in its care several days after calling off an active ground search for the creature. The animal shelter says it has opened an investigation to determine why and how the creature escaped. KC Pet Project began researching the animal because they were concerned that the alligator could not eat or drink with its mouth closed. Experts are still working to examine his current state of health. City ordinances do not allow alligators to be kept as pets in Kansas City. The school district may face a citation if a proper permit was not obtained before hosting the petting zoo.
