Kayla Hamilton's mother speaks out after migrant arrested in Rachel Morin murder case

The mother of a young Maryland woman allegedly killed by a migrant gang member a year before Rachel Morin was killed by another accused migrant has a message for President Biden: Secure the border.

Tammy Nobles, whose 20-year-old daughter was raped and strangled in 2022, told The Post on Monday that the federal government's lax border policies are to blame for the unthinkable tragedies her family and Morin's loved ones have faced.

“This is happening because Homeland Security, Health and Human Services are not doing their jobs and other agencies in power, like police and government, are not doing anything to prevent this,” Nobles said in an interview .

“And Biden is certainly not trying to stop these types of crimes from happening.” He is the one who welcomes illegal immigrants here.

“Government agencies, federal and local, must take responsibility and put American citizens first, not last. Our safety is not the priority.

The outcry around the country's porous border has intensified in recent days after Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, 23, an accused Salvadoran gang member, was arrested Friday for the rape and murder of Morin, 37 , on a hiking trail in Maryland last August.

Martinez-Hernandez, who arrived in the United States illegally, faces charges of first-degree murder and first-degree rape.

The sickening crime came a year after Nobles' daughter, Kayla Hamilton, was killed in her trailer by a 17-year-old MS-13 gang member, also from El Salvador.

The teen, who was arrested in January 2023 and faces a first-degree murder charge, allegedly shared the home with the victim while subletting it to another undocumented immigrant.

“I am incredibly saddened that something like this would happen again. I understand what Rachel’s mother and family are going through and the nightmare they have to endure every day,” Nobles said of Morin’s murder.

The devastated mother sued the federal government for $100 million earlier this year, accusing authorities of failing to properly vet the suspect in her daughter's murder before he entered the country.

Meanwhile, Morin's alleged killer was already wanted for an earlier murder in El Salvador and later, for the assault of a mother and young daughter in Los Angeles, authorities said.

“My message to Biden would be to close the border, start screening and background checking every illegal immigrant and start processing those who arrived here legally,” Nobles said.

“We cannot continue to let everyone in without properly screening them and doing background checks. »

She said her advocacy on behalf of her murdered daughter and other victims is about “trying to prevent tragedies like Kayla and Rachel's.”
