Kansas man arrested for 4 accidents in 1 night

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Kansas man has been arrested for causing four crashes in one night.

According to the Arkansas City Police Department, a 21-year-old Arkansas City man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and three counts of compelling to appear or provide help.


Arkansas City Police said they responded to multiple reports of a reckless driver in a gray Ford truck striking several vehicles and objects near North 5th Street and West Chestnut Avenue on the evening of May 25.

The driver had stopped when he crashed a fourth time in the 400 block of N. 3rd St. Officers made contact with the driver and suspected he was under the influence of alcohol. An investigation into drunk driving was then opened.

The investigation revealed that the driver was involved in the following accidents:

  • Damage to three vehicles in the 200 block of N. 5th St.
  • Damage to another vehicle and mailbox in the 400 block of W. Birch Ave.
  • Damage to a mailbox in the 700 block of N. 3rd St.
  • Damage to a tree and mailbox in the 400 block of N. 3rd St.

The man is being held on $1,200 bail at the Cowley County Jail.
