Kansas man arrested and charged with producing porn using Arkansas child

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas officials say a Kansas man is awaiting extradition to Arkansas after being charged with producing child pornography in which the victim's parents are stationed at Little Air Force Base Rock.

Attorney General Tim Griffin said Marcus Allen Abeyta, of Emporia, Kansas, is charged with producing child pornography involving a minor child living in Arkansas. Abeyta, 31, faces a federal charge of producing child pornography after his May 16 arrest, Griffin's reported.

In a statement announcing the arrest, Griffin said his office took the lead in the investigation because the child's parents were stationed at LRAFB. The AG's Special Investigations Division worked with the Air Force's Office of Special Investigations and Homeland Security Investigations in this case.

“Bringing child pornographers to justice requires collaboration across multiple jurisdictions, including, in this case, federal, military and state law enforcement,” Griffin said.

Investigators seized Abeyta's cellphone during his arrest, where they said they found additional images of juvenile victims.

Officials from the AG's office and Homeland Security Investigations are currently working to identify the children depicted.

Officials said Abeyta is currently being held without bail in Kansas at the Butler County Jail, awaiting transfer to Little Rock by the U.S. Marshals Service.
