Kansas City police investigate overnight homicide near 55th and Prospect

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are investigating a homicide near East 55th Street and Prospect Avenue.

Police said they were called to East 55th Street and Highway 71 just before midnight about a person reported with a weapon.

While en route, police said they received several 911 calls about a shooting at a business near East 55th and Prospect.

When they arrived, they found an adult male inside an unresponsive vehicle who had been shot.

Police say he died instantly.

Their preliminary investigation indicates there was an interaction between an undetermined number of people that led to shots fired.

Police say no person of interest has been identified and no one is in custody.
