Kansas City Chiefs DT Isaiah Buggs arrested for second time in 3 weeks

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (KCTV/WBRC) – A backup defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs has found himself behind bars for the second time in three weeks.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office records show officers arrested Isiah Buggs in Tuscaloosa on Sunday.

WBRC in Tuscaloosa reports an officer responded to a 911 call at 5:28 a.m. CT. Records show the officer arrested Buggs at the scene on suspicion of second-degree domestic violence and second-degree assault.

He was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail where he will be held for 12 hours on domestic violence charges and will be held on $5,000 bail, according to Tuscaloosa WBRC.

Buggs was previously charged with animal cruelty in May after two malnourished dogs were found at a rental place in Tuscaloosa. One of the animals had to be euthanized.

Buggs turned himself in to Tuscaloosa police before stepping down a short time later.

Investigators say Buggs was behind more than $3,100 in rent on the home and received a notice to terminate the lease in April, according to court records.

WBRC reports that Buggs denied the allegations, saying the dogs did not belong to him and that he was unaware they were in the house.

The 27-year-old's agent, Trey Robinson of AthElite Agency, has not released a statement on the latest charges, but he did release a statement on the animal cruelty charges against his client in may :

Buggs played for Alabama before being drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He played in 56 games and totaled 89 career tackles while playing three seasons in Pittsburgh and two seasons in Detroit.

Buggs signed a reserve/futures contract with the Chiefs on February 13, 2024, after joining the Chiefs' practice squad on January 4, 2024.
