A Kamloops man was assaulted outside his home in Upper Sahali last night.

Kamloops RCMP received a call about a disturbance on Springview Place around 9:40 p.m. on July 4, according to a police news release.

As officers attended the scene of the incident, they were alerted that the same suspect who caused the incident had used a weapon to assault a man outside his home on Springhill Drive.

The 31-year-old victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police used police dogs to track down the suspect and arrested him shortly after the attack. The suspect remains in custody.

“At this time, the motive for the assault is unknown,” Corporal James Grandy said in the release. “The investigation is ongoing and the RCMP is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to call us.”

Police are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and quote file 2024-21150.
