K9 in northern Wisconsin has a busy day, finds a missing person lost in the woods and helps arrest four subjects in a matter of hours

(WFRV) – A K9 in northern Wisconsin was able to help authorities find a missing person and arrest people of interest in a shooting incident, all within hours of each other.

The Sawyer County Sheriff's Office posted on its Facebook page that K9 Maverick was able to help resolve multiple incidents within a few hours. Maverick allegedly found a missing person suffering from dementia and lost in the woods.

The Sawyer County K-9 Foundation said the person was 85 years old and had been missing for about three hours before the search began. The person was not reported to have suffered any major medical problems following the incident.

Less than two hours later, deputies responded to a call of shots fired in the Drytown community. Authorities say with Maverick's help, deputies were able to arrest two subjects immediately following a search.

While authorities were still in the area, more gunshots were reportedly heard. Maverick searched another area and two more subjects came out of the woods and were taken into custody.

Four persons of interest were detained for questioning and a firearm was recovered.
