Justin Timberlake breaks silence on DWI arrest at Chicago concert

Justin Timberlake has spoken out for the first time about his arrest and night in jail, speaking to the crowd at a concert in Chicago on Friday night.

It was the singer's first public outing since his DWI arrest in the Hamptons on June 18, and Timberlake told fans, “It's been a rough week.”

He was performing at United Center Stadium in Chicago as part of his Forget Tomorrow world tour.

CNN reports that Timberlake told the crowd:

β€œIt’s been a difficult week. I know I'm hard to love sometimes, but you continue to love me back.

He added that all his fans have also faced “ups and downs, lefts and rights.”

He is scheduled to return to New York for two nights at Madison Square Garden on June 25 and 26.

Timberlake was arraigned and released on June 18 after being charged with drunk driving in Sag Harbor, New York, the previous evening. The Grammy-winning singer spent the night in Sag Harbor jail.

Sag Harbor police said he was stopped after he ran a stop sign and his BMW 2025 weaved along the road. He is next scheduled to appear in court virtually on July 26, the same day he is scheduled to begin a two-night stand in Krakow, Poland. Timberlake reportedly denied the accusation, saying he “only had one martini.”
