Justin Timberlake arrested for DWI in the Hamptons

Pop singer Justin Timberlake was arrested by local police in Sag Harbor, New York, for allegedly driving drunk, ABC News and CNN reported Tuesday morning.

The arrest in East Hamptons took place Monday evening. Timberlake made his first court appearance Tuesday morning. He was arraigned on charges of drinking while intoxicated, before being released without bail, according to TMZ.

The pop singer apparently failed a sobriety test when he was stopped by local police officers after crossing an intersection with a stop sign.

Timberlake's next court appearance is scheduled for July 26.

Local Sag Harbor criminal attorney Edward Burke, Jr., who represents the Hollywood singer and actor, could not be reached for comment.

The Hollywood Reporter also contacted representatives of the Sag Harbor Police Department and a representative for Timberlake.

The DWI arrest and release comes before Timberlake has two concerts scheduled at Chicago's United Center this weekend and two more dates at New York's Madison Square Garden, scheduled for June 25 and 26.

June 18, 9:05 a.m. This story has been updated with Timberlake's release.
