Justin Timberlake appeared to joke about his recent drunk driving arrest at a concert in Boston.

Grammy Award-winning pop star arrested in Sag Harbor, a wealthy village in the Hamptons in New York state last month.

In a video shared on social media over the weekend, Timberlake tells the crowd at Boston's TD Garden Arena: “Is there anybody out here driving, no, I'm just kidding.”

The fans appear to laugh and cheer as he continues to address the crowd.

The Sag Harbor Village Police Department said Timberlake was arrested at 12:37 a.m. local time (5:27 a.m. UK time) on Tuesday, June 18, after officers saw him “not stopping at a properly posted stop sign and failing to maintain your lane of travel” while driving. a BMW.

A police officer described his eyes as “bloodshot and glassy” and said a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanated from his breath,” according to court documents.

“He was unable to divide his attention, his speech was slow, his movements were unsteady and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” court documents added.

A source told Page Six, the New York Post's entertainment and celebrity site, that Timberlake said “under a whisper” during his arrest: “This is going to ruin the tour.”

Timberlake has strongly denied the allegations, with his lawyer saying he looks forward to “defend vigorously” the singer.

The 43-year-old, who first rose to prominence as a member of pop group NSYNC, was detained overnight after his arrest until he was arraigned at Magistrates Court from Sag Harbor Village and released.

A hearing date is scheduled for July 26.

Timberlake had previously appeared to address the arrest on stage, saying “It’s been a tough week.” during a performance in Chicago last month.

He is expected to continue his run of shows in the United States with performances planned in Baltimore, Maryland, Cleveland, Ohio, and Lexington, Kentucky.

He is due to perform in Birmingham, Manchester and London in the UK in August.
