July 4th celebration ends with 6 people stabbed, 2 fatally in Orange County

Violence erupted on the streets of Huntington Beach Thursday night, when witnesses said a man got out of a car and began stabbing people celebrating the Fourth of July holiday. Two people were fatally wounded and four others were hospitalized.

The chaos unfolded shortly after 11 p.m. to 4 p.m.th Street and Pecan Avenue, where police said a group of friends and family had gathered to watch fireworks.


Witnesses say a man approached the group in a vehicle, got out of the car and began stabbing people on the sidewalk.

Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Four other victims were transported to area hospitals in unknown condition.

It is not known whether anyone has been taken into custody, but police said there was no threat to people's safety.
