Juan Soto out of Yankees lineup for blockbuster game against Dodgers

A day after leaving a game early due to a potential injury, New York Yankees star right fielder Juan Soto is out of the lineup for the Yankees' blockbuster game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Soto left the Yankees' game against the Minnesota Twins early Thursday, with the Yankees citing left forearm soreness.

However, the 25-year-old outfielder was on hand at Yankee Stadium for Friday's game, with his arrival filmed on the YES Network. It is unclear at this time why Soto is out of the Yankees lineup and if his injury is related.

After Thursday's game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Soto had been dealing with discomfort in his left forearm for about a week and that the pain was not triggered by anything in especially Thursday. Soto underwent additional tests Friday to determine the severity of the injury.

Soto is one of the Yankees' best hitters, with a .318 batting average and 1.027 OPS. The Yankees acquired Soto last December in a blockbuster seven-player trade with the San Diego Padres. The Dominican outfielder was a huge boost for the Yankees, hitting 17 home runs, 49 runs and 53 RBIs.

After a few seasons below expectations, the Yankees currently hold the best record in baseball at 45-19, led by the superstar trio of Soto, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. However, the team will lack Soto's strength at the plate when it faces the Dodgers, who have their own superstar team led by two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani.
