JPD seeks answers to deadly shooting of 18-year-old in 2022

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – In a building that was formerly a T-Mobile in January 2022, 18-year-old Raven Coleman was shot and killed while she was with her family to pay a phone bill.

His mother was also shot during the incident at Ellis Avenue Plaza.

Jackson police eventually arrested 18-year-old Latimius Washington later that year, in May, in connection with the fatal shooting.

According to JPD, he was released because there was not enough information to move the case forward.

On Wednesday, Coleman's family and Jackson Police Chief Wade came together to ask anyone with information to come forward.

“I met with them probably about a month ago and we spoke on the phone last week,” Chief Wade said. “This is something this family will never, ever recover from. We must put an end to them. Because this individual took her life because he was a threat to her. And they also pose a threat to all of us because they have not been held accountable for their actions. “

The suspects in this case left and left their car on Combs Avenue.
