Joseph Matthew Kosmos identified as body found in Lexington, South Carolina

Coroner Margaret Fisher said the body was that of Joseph Matthew Kosmos, 37, of Lexington, who was reported missing in May. Authorities discovered the man's body after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor in the Roundtree Court area.

A recently released incident report suggests officers initially struggled to find the body when they arrived at the scene, but the neighbor who spotted it led them inside. Authorities said the person was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and no shoes. They also found a schoolbag nearby, the report states.

The coroner's and sheriff's offices are still investigating the incident. Coroner Fisher said in a statement that an autopsy was scheduled for June 11 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
