JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin police are searching for a suspect after a stabbing early Friday.

The JPD said the incident happened shortly after 4 a.m. in front of Watered Gardens, at 521 S. Kentucky Ave. There, police found a 42-year-old man with a knife wound to the chest.

The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening, JPD said. Investigators determined he was “highly intoxicated” and a “disturbance” occurred between the injured man and the person they suspect of stabbing him.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and has not been found. He would also be homeless.

Anyone with information about this case or the identity of the suspect involved is asked to contact JPD at 417-623-3131.
