Jimmy Thelin's Aberdeen transfer masterplan with 5 key positions identified and the Celtic question he needs to ask

Jimmy Thelin has launched another new manager at Pittodrie now his Aberdeen revolution has started.

The Swedish boss will now look to step up the club's transfer activities and recruit new faces for the pre-season return on June 24. Aberdeen director of football Steven Gunn and his recruitment team have been working on several objectives for the new manager.

It started when Thelin was still stationed at Elfsborg before moving to the Aberdeen role. The Reds have yet to announce their 23-24 starts, but it's looking increasingly likely that Thelin will have a number of big gaps to fill. No.1 Kelle Roos is likely to move on and Aberdeen will need to bring in another goalkeeper to battle with Ross Doohan.

Brentford goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson is a target for the new manager. Thelin worked with him in Elfsborg. He would be happy to take the Iceland international on loan if the English Premier League side agree to loan him out and then move to Scotland.

Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is another of interest to the Dons. He is in the final year of his contract but is keen to return to playing to force his way into the Scotland team. Thelin will also have to call on another central defender. Stefan Gartenmann spent last season on loan from Midtjylland, but it is looking increasingly unlikely that this will become a permanent deal.

Thelin is known for liking tall, imposing center halves and it is more than likely that another defender in the mold of Slobodan Rubezic would enter the equation. Financially it may not be viable, but one would assume Thelin would pop the question on Celtic's out-of-favour defender Gustaf Lagerbielke.

He worked with him at Elfsborg before selling him to the Hoops. He struggled to gain playing time under Brendan Rodgers and saw his January loan exit blocked due to injury. Would this allow Lagerbielke to reignite his career at Aberdeen like Liam Scales previously did.
