Jesus Cortes-Padilla arrested on child molestation and prostitution charges in Madera County, deputies say

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was arrested after allegedly molesting two juveniles, including a child under the age of 14, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Deputies say their investigations division was contacted by two victims who reported being assaulted by 35-year-old Jesus Cortes-Padilla. Following their revelations, an investigation was opened.

During their investigation, detectives say they identified additional victims, both juveniles and adults, who reported sexual harassment, solicitation of sexual favors and inappropriate conduct by Cortes-Padilla.

On Tuesday, officials said Cortes-Padilla was arrested on numerous charges, including attempted lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, sexual assault of a child under 18 and solicitation of prostitution. He is currently being held in the Madera County Jail.

On Wednesday, detectives said they requested and were granted a no-release order and a motion for bail enhancement.

“Our detectives have been working tirelessly on this case for some time. They see a pattern of behavior in Cortes-Padilla and know he is trying to lure girls and women with promises of money,” said Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue. “Many of these victims are reluctant to come forward for fear of being accused of crimes or seeking revenge. We ask each of them to come forward and allow us to seek justice on their behalf.

Deputies believe Cortes-Padilla potentially victimized more people in the community. Those who are victims or believe they know someone are encouraged to contact their office at 559-675-7770. Tips can also be emailed to MCSOTip@maderacountycom.
