Jayson Boebert sentenced

RIFLE, Colo. (KREX) – Rep. Lauren Boebert's former husband Jayson Boebert appeared in a Garfield County courtroom Wednesday morning for two pending cases.

At the start of the hearing, Jayson's attorney addressed the court with a printed plea agreement. That agreement stipulated that Jayson would plead guilty to reckless endangerment.

This charge stems from an altercation with his eldest son Tyler in January.

Because of his guilty plea, Judge Pototsky, who is overseeing the case, agreed to drop a second charge of prohibited use of a firearm while intoxicated.

Pototsky asked the prosecution if Tyler Boebert, Jayson's son, could comment on the case. Tyler was not in the courtroom, but Jayson's attorney spoke on Tyler's behalf, stating that during a conversation with Tyler, Tyler said he understood his father was under stress extreme and was going through a difficult time and that the relationship with his father had improved since January. altercation.

Boebert's attorney added that when investigators spoke with Tyler, he admitted no weapons were involved and didn't know why he initially said there were. The attorney said another witness to the altercation said the same thing.

His lawyer said Jayson Boebert takes responsibility for his actions and regrets the impact this situation had on his relationship with his son Tyler. He also expressed concern for Tyler's little son.

Before the final sentence was handed down, the judge reminded Jayson that his actions were under a microscope and said… “Everyone is watching and listening. »

Pototsky then ordered Jayson to pay a $40 fine plus costs and released him on unsupervised probation.
