Ofelia Medina Hernandez said she spoke to the teenager at 8am on June 17, telling him a bus was due to arrive at 10am – but he left on foot and she said she then passed him “walking fast”.

The apprentice mason called a friend who was spending his holidays with him around 8:30 a.m. on June 17 and told him he was going to walk home after missing the bus.

He also told his friend that he was lost and needed water, with only 1% charge on his phone.

Mr Slater's friend Brad Hargreaves told ITV's This Morning on Friday that he had a video call with him before he disappeared. when he heard him leave the road.
