Jay Slater missing: British teenager's family appeal to find him as mother says 'I can't give up' | Irish mirror

The mother of missing British teenager Jay Slater has revealed she is struggling to cope, admitting she “didn't sleep” and “couldn't give up” on her son.

Asked how the family is coping in a heartbreaking interview, Debbie Duncan admitted: “It's not. I'm not coping very well at all. I haven't slept , I'm exhausted. It's horrible. I can't give it up, I can't.”




She also expressed confusion over the Spanish authorities' refusal of UK aid, wondering if they saw it as “an insult”.

Asked if she thought the Spanish authorities should have accepted help from Lancashire Police, Ms Duncan replied: “I think they said they had enough resources and they didn't They didn't need help from the English police. I really do not know. They say they have enough resources to continue the investigation… I don't know, I don't know.

Admitting that the last few days had overwhelmed her, she said: “It's true, it's true. People say, 'Yeah, I understand,' no, you don't understand, you don't understand,” reports the Mirror.

In a desperate plea to her missing son Jay Slater, Debbie Duncan simply said “we just need you home.” Asked what her message for Mr Slater would be, she told the PA news agency: “We just need you at home, we just need him at home.”
