Jason Spencer Charge Dismissed: Harris County Sheriff's Chief of Staff's Protective Order Violation Dismissed in Montgomery Co. Case

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A Montgomery County court has rejected a protective order against the Harris County sheriff's chief of staff after his second arrest this month.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office confirmed Jason Spencer's firing to ABC13 on Friday.

Although MCDAO did not provide further details beyond the dismissal, Spencer's attorney, Murray Newman, told ABC13 that the judge's intent was not to ban any contact between Spencer and his children as long as it was not a threat or harassment.

Newman said the judge discovered a clerical error in the initial May 7 order and corrected it retroactively to that date.

Newman said that after the testimony of Spencer's ex-wife, the court concluded that Spencer also did not violate any of the court's bail conditions.

Spencer still faces a charge of injury to a child in Harris County after allegations he abused his teenage son late last year.

Charging documents say Spencer allegedly slammed the 14-year-old against a wall, threw a plastic gun case at him as he ran down the stairs and slammed him to the ground by his arms at his home in Heights on September 13. , 2023.

Investigators said the boy's medical records showed he suffered abrasions to his arms, back and face, a hematoma to his skull and other bruises.

Spencer posted bond.
