Japanese pianist arrested for allegedly stealing flight attendant's apron

A Japanese pianist was arrested for stealing a flight attendant's apron from a parked All Nippon Airways plane in April, police said Friday.

Kazuya Saito, a 34-year-old Tokyo resident, admitted to the theft, with police quoting him as saying: “Collecting women's uniforms is my hobby. I felt it and wore it myself. »

According to his website, Saito has won awards in China and abroad and was a finalist in the Long-Thibaud Competition, a prestigious international competition for emerging artists, in 2009.

Saito was arrested on June 12 for allegedly stealing the apron of a flight attendant in her 40s from the galley of the plane on April 25 while it was parked at the airport. 'Ishigaki, in Okinawa Prefecture, in the south of the island, police said.

The arrest came after All Nippon Airways Co. reported her missing from the tarmac in April, police said.

Saito also said he stole the item of clothing from an ANA plane in June, according to police, who added that they seized aprons and nurse uniforms, including from his home in Tokyo's Nerima district.
