James Kelly, 27, identified as driver killed in lawn truck rollover in Wongawallan, Gold Coast

The driver killed when his truck carrying a load of turf rolled onto a Gold Coast hinterland road has been identified as a young father.

James Kelly, 27, died in the single-vehicle crash on Tamborine Oxenford Rd in Wongawallan about 6.45am on Tuesday.

He leaves behind his partner Shianne Vaughan and his grandson Roman.

Vaughan wrote on Facebook that it “breaks my heart” to announce Kelly's death.

The turf growing community has set up a GoFundMe to support the young family.

Organizer Natalie Scalisi from Turf Queensland said the community was “deeply saddened” by the “tragic loss” of the “young contract driver, devoted partner and loving father”.

She said the family was “facing unimaginable grief and hardship”.

“In times like these, it is crucial for us to come together as a community and support each other,” she wrote on GoFundMe, shared by 7NEWS.com.au with permission.

The crash, which left grass strewn across the road, remains under investigation by the police forensic accident unit.
