Jacksonville man arrested in downtown shooting Saturday hours after graduation and baseball game – Action News Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacobie Lewis, of Jacksonville, was arrested for shooting a man downtown hours after a graduation ceremony and Jumbo Shrimp game Saturday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

A man was shot in the stomach around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Georgia and Duval streets. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

A JSO traffic enforcement officer saw a group of people fighting in a parking lot at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Wall. One of the people was later identified as Lewis, according to the arrest report.

Part of the report was redacted but at one point, following the argument, Lewis began running across the parking lot.

An officer was able to intercept Lewis near A. Philip Randolph and Duval Street, but the suspect continued to flee. He held onto his belt as he fled, according to the report.

Lewis was arrested in the parking lot of the Jacksonville Fairgrounds after being arrested.

The 21-year-old young man is accused of attempted murder and resisting a police officer without violence.

Three other men were also arrested in connection with the shooting.

Jamar Thomas, Lewis' brother, is charged with resisting an officer without violence.
