Jackson County Sheriff's Office Hosts Prescription Take Back Event | Local

The event runs for three days this week.



JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is hosting a drug recovery event at three locations this week. This means residents can safely dispose of expired items in their medicine cabinet.

According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, they will accept all medications “in dosage form, except those identified as not accepted.” Medications must also be in their original container or in a sealed bag. They will not accept “herbal remedies, vitamins, supplements, other personal care products, empty medical devices, batteries, thermometers containing mercury, sharp objects, illicit drugs, products pet pesticides, animal medications and biological products.”

All three events will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the release said. It will be in Butte Falls on Wednesday, Eagle Point on Thursday and Phoenix on Friday. Details can be found below.

“Check your medicine cabinet and remove all expired and unwanted medications. If you are unsure if a medication is still safe, check with your pharmacist. Count medications to keep track of quantities. Put away expired or unwanted medications for safe disposal,” the statement said. “Please separate and remove all items and medications that are not accepted before disposing of them. Do not place medications in the trash or recycling and never flush them down the sink or toilet. To protect your privacy, Remove any personally identifiable information or medication labels or packaging before throwing away unwanted medications.
