“Iraq” indicted for armed attack on men at Lucea bar | News

Detectives attached to the Hannover Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man over a firearm attack on two men who were having a drink in a bar in Lucea.

He is Vernon Francis, 28, otherwise known as “Iraq”, a farmer from Haughton Garden in Lucea, who is charged with shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and malicious destruction of property.

Francis was charged Friday after being flagged down during an identification parade.

He had been arrested by the police during an operation the day before.

A court date is being finalized for him.

The events occurred on Wednesday May 15.

Police report that around 10 p.m., two men were at a bar in First Brissett, Lucea having drinks when a motorcycle arrived with two men on board.

The passenger got off the motorcycle and brandished a handgun.

The man pointed his gun at the men and opened fire on them.

The men ran and were able to escape unharmed.

The culprit gave chase and continued shooting at the men.

During the incident, a white Nissan AD Wagon car was damaged by gunfire.

Francis returned to the waiting motorcycle and fled.
