IPSWICH — Fire Chief Paul Parisi reports that Ipswich firefighters have extinguished an active fire at a commercial building on Mitchell Road.

On Wednesday, June 12, at approximately 11:14 a.m., Ipswich firefighters received a commercial fire alarm activated at D&D Manufacturing, 49 Mitchell Road.

Ipswich Police Patrolman Pat Carlin was the first to arrive and discovered smoke coming from the building.

Upon arrival, Engine 2 discovered smoke and a fire burning in an HVAC unit located in the ceiling of a manufacturing space rented by C&C Fabricating. The fire alarm sounded and the building was evacuated.

Engine 2, under the command of Lt. Pat Dingle, ran a garden hose into the building and extinguished the fire. Primary research was carried out. Ipswich firefighters, both off-duty and on call, along with mutual aid firefighters, overhauled the building to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 45 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Part of the building was closed following the fire. Chief Parisi estimates the damage to the building to be approximately $50,000. The property is owned by K Three Realty, LLC and is valued at $1,073,600.

Rowley firefighters provided mutual aid at the scene. ActionEMS was on standby and the Rehab 5 truck provided rehabilitation support to the firefighters on scene. Firefighters from Topsfield and Essex covered Ipswich stations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Ipswich Fire Brigade, but is not being treated as suspicious.
