IPOB calls traffickers of Igbo girls enemies of the people

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have called for collective action to end the trafficking of adolescents in the South East, particularly boys and girls, as well as sexual exploitation locally and internationally.

The pro-Biafra group has described recent viral videos of some teenage girls from the South East being trafficked into prostitution in Ghana as a worrying development.

They said this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Powerful EmmaSaturday, adding that IPOB is against all forms of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

The statement read in part, “The noble family and the IPOB movement call for collective actions to end the trafficking of adolescents, girls and boys. These children were mostly minors and were trafficked and locked in rented houses in Ghana to prostitute themselves for evil, soulless traffickers.

“We believe that the trafficking of innocent and ignorant adolescent girls from Nigeria to Ghana, other African, European and American countries for the purpose of prostitution is an international cartel that requires the collaboration of inter-country security services and other international agencies to be fought.

“These teenagers were trafficked across land borders in collusion with border and checkpoint security agencies. We call on Nigerians and Ghanaians to arrest and prosecute human traffickers.

He added, “IPOB opposes all forms of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Igbo girls are important for productive procreation among the Ndigbo. Those who traffic these Igbo girls and those who use them as sex slaves locally and internationally are enemies of Ndigbo and must be treated as such.
